This is your time...

your-time-blog.jpg

A different pace, a different feel this week.

Have you ever felt stuck, blocked or unsure as to whether you are doing the right things in your life..from your career to your relationships to just how you are living your life day to day.

If so, please take a moment to stop and watch this short video which I designed to inspire you and help you to see that you're not alone.  That in actual fact these feelings, these peaks and troughs are part of life and in some ways we actually need these changes in season to help us make way for change and new things to come.

You see I often feel like I'm in a very privileged position as I get to hear people's stories on a daily basis.  What I know for sure from this experience is that we are more the same than we are different.  That even the most confident person feels scared, that even the most intelligent person doesn't know everything and also that these feelings don't last for ever.  Enjoy...

I hope you enjoyed this very different little video here this week at APE.

What I personally would love for you to be able to take away from this is that you can move through any period of doubt, worry, anxiety or sadness, but at the same time you should never feel pressured to rush though that period, which in actual fact is part of your growth.  It's your winter.  Your time to reflect and nurture yourself, and that there is so much you can do to achieve the things you want to, with clarity, when you choose to.

I'd love to hear what you got from today and also I'd love to hear from you if you've ever felt like this?  Did you overcome your own period of doubt, uncertainty or grief, and what did you do to start putting one foot on front of the other?

With much love to you this week if you've been feeling like this...you CAN do it.  It really is YOUR TIME.

Till next week.

felt this was needed as

A simple strategy for Overwhelm..

overwhelm-blog.jpg

Do you ever feel like you are being bombarded on a daily basis about all the things you should be doing?

When you feel like you want to live a conscious life, it's easy to get sucked into the shoulds...

...I should be working harder, I should be eating more healthy, I should be going to the gym, I should read that book, I should clean out that wardrobe, redecorate that room, be more mindful, be more calm....aaagghhh!

Often what doesn't help is seeing other people around you seemingly doing these things. Your social media feed is probably filled with people doing the very things you are struggling to do..and then you feel bad.  You feel down, you feel like you will never to get to where you want to be.

You then feel stressed, anxious and overwhelmed!

The fact is that we absolutely can do the things we want to do, but we often need to just take a step back and think about doing things in a way that suits us, and allows us to have the best shot at actually achieving it.  This might look a little slower than we would like, but we can get there, and what we mustn't forget is that in the midst of all of this, if we don't take care of ourselves in the process, then we won't get anywhere.

I work with a lot of clients who feel Overwhelmed, which often comes from being driven and motivated to succeed.

With these clients I often share a simple strategy that helps them overcome feelings of overwhelm and helps them start to take better care of themselves, and this is what I share with you in todays video, so let's get stuck in...

I'd love to hear from you if you try out this simple strategy!  Also, watch out for an upcoming Facebook live with one of my clients who will share with you how this strategy has worked for her.

The 3 steps to success!...

success-blog-post.jpg

Have you ever wondered how you're going to achieve the things you want to in life?

Maybe you've read the books, you've done the courses and you've maybe even hired a coach or someone to help you on your journey and yet you still feel blocked or like there is more working against you than in your favour.

In today's blog I share the 3 steps to success, which are all about Acquisition, Performance and Evolution...in other words, APE!

I've worked hard on this model which has been based on research but more importantly my experience as psychologist working with people all looking to live fulfilled lives.

It's not always easy.  There are no guarantees and this kind of stuff isn't a magic formula - as much as other trainers, coaches and self-help peeps would like you to believe!-.

What I can honestly say though, from my own experience having actually taken people through the APE process, is that by putting in the work which looks like working on yourself, your mind-set and changing your behaviours, WILL get you big results.

Sometimes the people I work with even surprise themselves!

So, today we dig into the APE model, and look at each part of the model which acts like a road-map to get you to where you want to be...let's get stuck in!

I hope you found today's post useful.

Interview with Tao Porchon-Lynch..

untitled-design-51.jpg

The strap line here at APE Model is 'all it takes is for one ape to think differently'.

As well as challenging us to evolve, think and behave differently via the model itself, we also spend a lot of time looking others who are out there actually doing it.  Living it!

These are the the people who have broken the mould via how they live, or what they have accomplished.

These are the people that challenge our thinking and make us ponder and reflect on what we could do differently to live our own best lives.

These are often the people where others around them struggle to understand who they are...what they are doing seems crazy, bonkers, a waste of time, silly, too dangerous maybe?

This week we place the spotlight on one of THE most inspirational people you could ever hope to meet.  Tao Porchon-Lynch.

For those of you that don't know her, Tao is a Yoga Master, and at 99 years of age makes her the oldest yoga teacher in the world today.

Born in Punducherry, India in 1918, she discovered yoga when she was a child, having seen some boys 'playing a game' that she was intrigued by.  Told that this thing was actually yoga, but only something boys were allowed to, do saw the early rising of her defiant spirit as she became determined to master it herself..which she did.

Her path to becoming a yoga master however wasn't straight forward, as she was first drawn to modelling and then the stage, spending her early working life as an actress for the likes of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer working alongside the likes of Kathryn Grayson and Elizabeth Taylor to name a few.

Tao has marched with Mahatma Ghandi, teaches yoga all over the world, learnt to ballroom dance at the age of 84, appearing on America's Got Talent, the list goes on.

In this interview Tao opens up about her path to yoga but also shares so much more.

Here she gives us a special insight into her positive state of mind, and what this does for her mind, body and spirit.  She also tells us about her other passions including animals and taking care of the planet.  So without further ado, please click on the link to get a huge dose of inspiration from a living legend...

I hope you enjoyed this interview with Tao.  I'd love to know what you've been able to take form this interview and also if it hearing her words have inspired you to do anything differently yourself.

I can honestly say that she's inspired me to start my day with a positive thought.  What a huge impact this can have on what happens to you and how your life actually looks.

Also, if you’d like to be the first to find out about all things APE, then of course click HERE to be taken to the link here to sign up for email updates which include a link to the new video in your inbox every week, as well as being the first to find out about new events, courses and programmes!

ps - Here are 'the' shoes!  Heels 2 inches high...wonderful!

Did you know that successful people wake up at 5am?...or do they?..

sleep-blog-plain.jpg

What time do you get up in the morning?

Are you an early riser? Do you like the quietness of the house as you potter downstairs to make yourself a coffee, and then use this sacred time write or read a book before the rest of the house arises?

Or maybe you like to wake a little later and get up just in time to get ready for the day and go to work or go out to the gym?

Whatever you do are you happy with the sleep you're getting and do you feel like your routine suits you?  Are you getting enough sleep?

When I work with clients, there typically seems to be some kind of improvement we can make in their sleep routine.  Some feel that they don't get enough.  Some are in bad patterns, so sleep late but have to be up early for work so are always feeling tired. Some  and, I have to admit I see it more in my female clients, feel guilty if they 'lie-in' or are not getting with the sparrows.

The media likes to focus on sleep, and as part of their repertoire for stories and advice the general rule of thumb seems to be that if you want to be successful, then getting up with the sparrows is exactly what you should be doing.  After all, it's what the 'greats' do isn't it? They are apparently up at 5am writing their next novel, making their millions, honing their 6 pack or creating the recipe for world peace...but is it true, and should we be bowing down to the peer-pressure that tells us that the only route to happiness and success is the 5am start?

Well I dive into this is in today's video, where we look at importance of sleep and the real benefits it can have for you in terms of brain function, memory and your physical health. We also take a look at some famous case-studies of those that rise early and those that don't!

So, here we go...

The Psychology and benefits of Play...

blog-play.jpg

Happy Halloween...and just in time, as today we take a look at the Psychology of Play!

Do you consider yourself to be playful?  Do you like to play..and if so what does that look like for you?

Maybe it's as simple as playing a board game or another game or sport which has rules and outcomes, or maybe you like to be more playful versus playing actual games?  Again, what does this look like for you and whether you do or you don't like to be playful, have you ever asked yourself why?  What do I get from playing and is there actually any benefit to this tom-foolery?

Well, play is not just a fundamental  part of how we do things here at APE Model - as you may have noticed - but it's a part of the A.P.E Model itself.  In fact we devote an entire module to in the Evolve section of the model (see below).  But why you might ask?  Why is play so important?

In today's video I delve into 4 of the benefits of play, there are more of course but these 4 should be enough to make you ponder and consider for yourself if you'd like to be more playful in your own life and if you do what it can do for you in your own evolution?

So, let's get stuck in...
