Planning 2018!....4 steps to get your plan underway.

ny-blog-pic.jpg

Do you make a plan for your year ahead?

If you do what does that look like?  Do you just jot down a few things on paper about what you'd like to see happen that year?  Maybe you just make a mental note about a few things, or maybe you're the kind of person that announces a resolution or two to all you know via social media?

I've always taken the planning of my New Year really seriously. By seriously, I mean that I literally take a day or two out to plan ahead and get clear on what I'd like to do that year.

Serious doesn't mean not fun though, as this planning session is often an opportunity to go away somewhere nice and punctuate the planning with nice walks, food and reading....all designed to inspire the process.  I also get to indulge another fetish of mine which is beautiful notebooks and other stationery items, but that for another time.

In my opinion and in my experience, if you don't plan you're floundering, and although that might be OK for those people who don't like to think about the future or have won the lottery (!), it's not the life for me.  In my experience both in my own life and with the clients I work with, planning ahead gives you the best chance of actually achieving what you want to achieve, whether that's as simple as moving house, or losing weight or starting your own business.

None of these things happen by themselves or for that mater by accident!

This kind of planning process is something that I also do with all of my clients as we take time out to look at the main things they would like to accomplish that year and then take some time out scheduling when they might happen.  So, in today's video I share with you an insight into how to get the ball rolling with this process, as planning and scheduling time for what you want to do is a big part of APE.  So let's get stuck in...

The 3 steps to success!...

success-blog-post.jpg

Have you ever wondered how you're going to achieve the things you want to in life?

Maybe you've read the books, you've done the courses and you've maybe even hired a coach or someone to help you on your journey and yet you still feel blocked or like there is more working against you than in your favour.

In today's blog I share the 3 steps to success, which are all about Acquisition, Performance and Evolution...in other words, APE!

I've worked hard on this model which has been based on research but more importantly my experience as psychologist working with people all looking to live fulfilled lives.

It's not always easy.  There are no guarantees and this kind of stuff isn't a magic formula - as much as other trainers, coaches and self-help peeps would like you to believe!-.

What I can honestly say though, from my own experience having actually taken people through the APE process, is that by putting in the work which looks like working on yourself, your mind-set and changing your behaviours, WILL get you big results.

Sometimes the people I work with even surprise themselves!

So, today we dig into the APE model, and look at each part of the model which acts like a road-map to get you to where you want to be...let's get stuck in!

I hope you found today's post useful.

How you can win friends and avoid people...

blog.jpg

Have you ever felt like people in your life have held you back, versus having your back?

What was it they did?  Did they fail to support you in pursuit of your dreams?  Did they criticise you for the changes that you were making in your life?  Did they retract their positivity the minute things seemed to be going well for you?

'People' make up an entire module in A.P.E, as regardless of how much you feel you need someones support or guidance, or just someone else's positivity to push you forward; the fact is that the people you surround yourself with make a big difference in your life.

Think about it...how different does it feel when someone is there to support you, cheerlead you on and bounce ideas off in a positive way, versus the opposite which is what we look at today.

This video is a brief exploration, in a cheeky fashion, of the 6 types of people you should be avoiding in life if you want to move forward...let's get stuck in.

So what do you think?  Do you relate to this?  Are there people in your life that you've 'culled' as a means to protect your own emotional wellbeing or self-esteem?  How did it feel when you did that?

I'd love for you to share a comment below, or if you'd rather keep it personal (as I've already had some people contact me re this behind the scenes), then please do so at info@apeathy.com

The Psychology behind defining what happiness means to you

blog-hapiness.jpg

Have you ever said to yourself...'I just want to be happy'.

What did that mean exactly?  So what did you expect happy to look like?

Did it involve having more spare time to do the things you love.  Did it involve having more money or a bigger home?  Maybe, it meant leaving your current job or starting that new business, or maybe it just means feeling freer in your mind, so not as stressed more relaxed, less anxious.

It's funny but I work with clients all the time who tell me that they would like aspects of their life to be 'happy'.  They say things like, 'I'd like a happy relationship', or 'I'd like to feel happier in my job' or 'I'd like my kids to be happy'.  When they say this I always ask them that key question...'can you define it for me'.  In other words, how does that need to be manifested for you to feel like it's been achieved?  What does that look like in reality?

Indeed, the same rule can be applied to all of those other things we say we want in our lives, sometimes haphazardly, like I want a 'successful' relationship or business.  I want to feel 'content' in my body.

Todays blog is all about the power behind getting clear about your definitions of these things, and the impact it can have on our lives and relationships when we get crystal clear about what we really mean.  I also share with you today a very personal story about how I used to do this in a previous relationship and the cost it had.  So let's dive in...

I do hope that you found this useful.  I'd love to know if you can identify of yourself when you are unclear about the definitions you holds and also if you can see ways that you can now impact this, in a way that will have you feel 'happier' and more aligned with where you want, and even who you want to be.

The Psychology behind having a Vision...and why it's crucial to your success.

untitled-design-41.jpg

Do you have a vision for you life?

How do you want it to look?  Do you envision yourself having a different job or business in the future? Or maybe you visualise one day having the body you've always desired?  Maybe you visualise one day having more money or a loving relationship.

This week at APE, we are taking a look at what it means to have a clear vision for your future self and future life.  You see there's a difference between a dream and a vision and often people confuse the two which often results in frustration and confusion when things don't work out like they do in our dreams.

In today's short video I'll be sharing with you the psychology behind having a clear vision as well as an exercise that will help you to work towards getting this super clear, because making changes in our life start by getting absolute clarity about what we are setting out to achieve.

Let's dive in!

Of course I’d also love to hear from you.  Are you clear on the difference between your own dreams and your visions? If you tried the dream/nightmare exercise what did you learn about what you see in your future?  Let us know down below in the comments or of course if you have any questions please just send them along to info@apeathy.com
